Happy New year!
The New Year brings with it another national Lockdown but music proves to be one thing that can help us all through!
Singing lessons have continued online and my students have impressed me with how well they have adapted to this new way of learning. As more and more of our experiences have become remote and digital it has been possible to keep working towards musical goals. I am so proud of my students who have shown that achievement is possible, even in challenging times, by entering and taking part in Rock School Vocal Video Examinations at the end of last year with admirable results.
Claudia and Celeste both achieved Merit in their Grade 4 & 5 Vocal Performance exams. Well done girls!
Teaching from home for private vocal students, as well as conducting music classes for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities, has been challenging, particularly whilst like many other working parents I have had to be home-schooling my children too. Keeping my kids active and happy when so little extra-curricular resources/clubs etc are still open has been one of the biggest challenges. This prompted me to offer FREE online music classes to primary school children for as long as the second lockdown continues. If your children would enjoy a fun and funky music class where they can sing, dance and let off steam, get in touch with me.
I’m running FREE music classes for kids on a Friday during lockdown.
The Me-Time Pop Choir managed to briefly return to face-to-face choir sessions last term alongside the online format that we’ve become strangely accustomed to. It was amazing how much we enjoyed hearing our voices in harmony together again as that is something we miss on Zoom as it is necessary to sing ‘on mute’ due to sound latency.
One of the most disappointing things about last term was being unable to take part in our usual Christmas performances. However, determined as we are, we managed to come up with 2 ways to ‘perform’ together and spread festive cheer via two Christmas recordings we put together in December (see below) and a featured spot in the Making Music online Christmas Concert. We look forward to getting creative in many different ways during 2021 to keep us singing together. The Pop Choir is a community singing group and open to all, so please get in touch if you would like to join us. We are currently operating a solely online format again during the national lockdown.
We recorded 2 more ‘lockdown style’ recordings as a choir in December to spread some festive cheer, have a listen below.
